This is your gentle reminder for December 4, 2014 · Our annual cantata, Christmas Old and New, will be presented at the 11:00 a.m. service THIS Sunday, December 7. The program will include excerpts from the musical, Celebrate Life! and excerpts from Handel’s Messiah. Soloists will be Eldon Moen, Mason Williams, Elaine Anthony, Sharon Maslin and Stephanie and Bob Garrett. Invite your friends and neighbors. · There are NEW TAGS on the Giving Tree in the lobby. Please remember to bring your wrapped gift, with the tag attached, to the church by next Sunday. Thank you for your generosity. · If you’ve not already submitted your 2015 stewardship commitment card, please bring it Sunday and place it in the offering plate. You may also drop it by the office or mail it to us. · Alternative Christmas Market—The Missions Committee will be sponsoring an Alternative Christmas Market in the lobby area between services THIS Sunday, Dec. 7 and December 14. A donation of much needed items to either Church World Service or UMCOR makes a wonderful gift for those who are hard to buy for. Cards are available so that your recipient knows what gift is donated in their name. The gift of such items as seeds and garden tools to a hungry family, a mosquito net for malaria protection, or a citizenship class for a US immigrant perfectly reflects the spirit of the holiday. · Sunday, December 14th is the Cookie Walk held in the fellowship hall. Also, Happy Birthday Jesus celebration for the kids with LIVE animals on the grounds outside the fellowship hall! · Sunday, December 21 4:00-6:00 pm Christmas caroling in the neighborhood! · Christmas Eve Candlelight Services are: o 5:00 pm Contemporary o 7:00 pm Traditional · Bethlehem Walk Our Father’s House needs many volunteers to help set up starting Friday, November 28, ending Saturday, December 20, and during the presentations on December 12-14. Please sign the blue card located in the office, or call the office to tell them when you would be available to help. They also need empty “water and milk” gallon containers for luminaries to light up the driveway and walk. · You may purchase a poinsettia or make a contribution to the Good Samaritan Fund in memory of, or in honor of, a loved one for Christmas Eve. You may take the poinsettia home after the 7:00 pm service. Each poinsettia costs $12.00 and you may use the tear-out in the bulletin or call the office at 777-0116. The last day to order is Sunday, December 14. · Satellite High School Chorale concert is 7:00 pm Tuesday, Dec. 9th at the Satellite High School Auditorium. · Central Florida Council of Boy Scouts is presenting the Space Coast Lightfest from November 17 through January 1 at Wickham Park in Melbourne. Your donations go directly to support Scouting in Central Florida. · Dining out in the month of December is at BANANA RIVER CAFÉ. They are located on S. Patrick Drive, just south of SBUMC in the Lori Lane strip mall. Their hours are 7 am to 2:30 pm, Tuesday through Sunday. Make sure to write SBUMC on the bill so that we will receive 10% towards the refurbishment of our Fellowship Hall. Sympathies of the congregation are extended to Rick and Joann Armstrong on the death of Rick’s brother Bill, who passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 25th. A memorial service will be held here in our sanctuary Sunday, December 7th at 3:00 pm with a reception following in the fellowship hall
