This little item was in a paper around 1960-61. I dont know what paper or who wrote it but nice anyhow! DOWN BY THE SEA If you want to show your summer visitors some really beautiful scenery, take them to the little seaport village of Advocate. The scenery between Port Greville and Advocate Harbour is really breathtaking. A good road winds throught the green mountains revealing here and there a panoramic view of the Bay of Fundy. In the distance one can see off to the east lies Blomindon, Spencers Island and Isle lHaute also rise out of the sea and seem to beckon one. When you get to Advocate you will want to admire all the boats of various kinds. One can hire a boat to go out for deep sea fishing at a very reasonable rate. Youve never seen lobster like the huge ones caught in this area -- and so succulent too! Just before you get to the village, you will notice a winding road leading off to the left. Follow it down to the area and visit the fish weir youll find there. They often have beautiful big salmon. We also bought some shad, herring and mackerel, fresh from the sea. If youre the outdoor type, go up to Red Rocks at West Advocate for a picnic. the huge red rocks, the clean gravelled beaches pounded by the surf remind one of Masefields poem where he says: the flung spray and the blown spume, And the sea gulls crying. You can make a huge bonfire here and boil the lobster you got in the village. Local clams steamed in the fire are delicious too. sometimes you can get fresh local dulse. If you prefer a quieter, prepared meal, be sure and visit the wonderful new restaurant Harbour Lite that has been built across from the new Regional High School. The modern shining interior smells of good home baked foof and their seafood is out of this world. For quiet unspoiled beauty, there are few places to equal this wonderful part of our country. Cumberland County may well boast of beautiful little Advocate.
