Under the guidance of three professional tutors you will explore the rich collection of the Grafisch Werkcentrum Amsterdam. Metal and woodtype, blocks, proof presses and tabletop platen presses are available to realise your personal project. PROGRAMME Day 1 - Monday August 19 14.00–17.00 Registration and welcome drink at GWA. Meet & Greet the teachers. Day 2, 3, 4 - August 20, 21, 22 10.00–17.00 Over these three days, we will teach you the basic principles of typography, typesetting, pulling a proof, preparing a forme and printing. Day 5 - Friday August 23 10.00–17.00 Finishing and binding, discussion and evaluation. Optional One morning or afternoon, we will make a ‘typo walk”. We will either walk through the city and visit several spots that are typographically important or visit the Special Collections of the University Library of Amsterdam with its large collection of type specimens.
