This made me cry this morning. Reposting what our incoming - TopicsExpress

This made me cry this morning. Reposting what our incoming 4th year SM scholar posted this morning. He is taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education at National University: He posted... Just had this turnback Tuesday memory with me. Before getting into this scholarship, my future was somehow uncertain. I mean, may magpapaaral naman sa akin (BS Automotive Technology ang course) but the condition is that I have to work as a mechanic everytime free ako and after ko makatapos. Dati rin, hindi ko maafford kahit Fudgee Barr na tig-siyete pesos at most. And I had to walk the distance between home and my school just to save the five-peso fare (boom panes sa amin, 7 pesos pamasahe ng regular jeepney, pero dun sa paikot lang, lima). May instances pa na nabugbog and napagtripan pa ako dahil naglakad lang ako. After high school graduation, wala pa akong napag-examan na university or college. Except EARIST. Then, I was fortunate enough to get here. At first, despite being a scholar, times are tough. Nawalan pa kasi ng trabaho yung tatay ko, and my mother earns so little in her job. Thats why during those times, I had to go back to walking from school to our house - only this time the distance is about twice or thrice as long. And I only buy the cheapest meal that I can. Bente. Then, paunti-unti, more doors have opened. Tapos lalong dumami opportunities. And ngayon, looking back on those times, I saw how far I have gone. And about one year from now, kasama naman na ako sa mag-eensayo para sa presentation of graduates. Kaya para sa mga nahihirapan dahil kapos, may problema sa pamilya, may problema sa academics, na-friendzone o anupamang zone yan, siguro ito lang pointers ko sa inyo. I can give only a personal anecdote at best pero sana makapagpalakas naman ng loob kahit kaunti. 1. Never be a masochist. Never force yourself to go to lifes greatest challenges without a little preparation. Siyempre may mga surprises yan, pero pray lang kay Lord. Remember that a soldier does not head to battle without any advice from his or her commander. 2. Man imposes but God disposes. The Lords timing is always perfect. 3. At the end of the day, youre another day older. But make sure that at the end of that day, youre at least a level wiser. 4. When the Giant tells you to quit, listen carefully. There youll hear the Lord telling you to go on. 5. When you are burdened, never complain, or youll never grow a muscle to brave even bigger odds. 6. Give thanks. And honor those who have helped you pave the way. At the end of the day, its not about you enjoying the spotlight. 7. When you are given much, share. 8. This is rather personal, pero Psalms 23. My father shared me this when I was a kid. As I end this post, I want to say thank you to everyone behind SM Foundation. I can never repay you enough. Salamat po. And to all of us, remember that no one said that this journey will be easy. They only said that this will be very worthwhile, if you savor it.
