This man believes, with all his heart, that he has done enough, - TopicsExpress

This man believes, with all his heart, that he has done enough, that the past is the past, that the world is just and everyone gets what they deserve and some people just like to complain and be over-sensitive. He is what we risk becoming. Racists. When we refuse to acknowledge that our comforts and way of life is predicated upon the exploitation of other peoples, we are racist. It is in the best interest of MY OWN personal quality of life and living that the majority of systems are upheld - immigrant labor that provides me with cheap produce; the subjugation of communities to provide me with cheap energy or fuel. More explicitly (and digressively) the continued discrimination against women allow me more opportunities in the workforce. When our society deems a group of people inferior or their desires irrelevant there IS NO INCENTIVE for us to say or even believe otherwise - because we are seen superior in comparison. No incentive, I should say, save our consciences. I cant say I dont buy cheap produce at No Frills. I cant say I refuse to be a part of the system that abuses so many people. But I can, and I will, be aware and vocal. I struggle every day to find just one small way to use the privileges Ive been born with for something other than upholding those self-same privileges. I dont succeed every day - Im human, my nature is to seek comfort. But unless we try, this man and his vitriol in disguise as indignance is what we will become.
