This may offend some people, which is not my intention, I just want to explain some of my recent reactions to things. Why I am not a feminist and why most feminists I know see me as an anti-feminist. So, before I explain myself, let me take a look at the meaning of the word feminism. Feminism: the advocacy of womens rights on the grounds of political, social and economical equality to men. Cool! So its an act to give women the same rights as men. Good thing! Now lets get to the main point. People react to things based on their point of view and personal experiences. I was in a situation for many years where I was suppressed as a female. I understand why feminism can be very important. The problem, quite frankly, is my personal experience with feminists. There are three different types of feminists I have met. 1: the type thats in it only for hating men and becoming superior to men, which has nothing to do with the act at all. 2: the ones who are going for the right cause… but are focused on things that wont help at all and really dont matter. 3: The ones who talk down on women who are simply saying they dont need feminism. Sometimes I get a mix of these three. But I havent found any feminist yet who doesnt do at least one of these three things frequently. And my problem is that these three things annoy the hell out of me. Recently I have even found that most feminists (not all mind you, I know a couple who are not like this) see feminism not as a cause for equality, but as a cause for female domination. Which is why, I am not a feminist. I havent had any positive experiences with them. I like to call myself an equalist. I would love to see men and women treated equally. Many of the reasons that hinders this are not political or even religious, but simply that people like seeing themselves over others. They enjoy having someone to look down on. The politics and religion are just excuses to do so. And poor ones. Unfortunately, people have also used feminism as a reason and thats not any more okay than the other reasons. I dont hate feminists. I just dont have any reason to like their ideas. I dont need feminism, because feminism isnt helping me. What is helping me is my own willingness to stand up against discrimination toward the honest victims, whether they be male or female. Ive said my piece. You are all free to judge me or respect my choice now.
