This month’s Casual-For-A-Cause (Wednesday, May 14) will be used to help Rehema Home in Nairobi, Kenya. The following description comes from their website: “Orphaned, abandoned, abused, sick or dying: these are the children that find new life at Rehema Home. Rehema means mercy in Swahili. More than an orphanage; we are a true home supported by a global family, passionate about caring for our children and diligent in preparing them for their future.” Recently, we were made aware of a prayer request which includes a financial need at Rehema Home. Please take a moment to read the e-mail that was sent out from Mr. Mark Tewksbury. Thank you so much for your generosity and willingness to be a blessing to others! We have a major prayer request here at Rehema Home in Nairobi. Yesterday on the way home from church, five of our teenagers and one of our staff members, who was driving, were in a major car accident. No life threatening injuries.... but many broken bones, cuts, and a lot of bruises and swelling. The car was a total loss. Michele Almodovar Tewksbury, Judi Rowe (our office administrator from the UK) and I spent many long hours at the hospital yesterday, but, by the grace of God, we were able to bring 4 of our boys home last night. Our staff member and one of our boys had to be admitted to two different hospitals, but they are doing well and we are getting good reports from the doctors. We have at least two prayer requests that are as follows: 1. Between our staff member and our five boys we had a broken leg, a broken arm, a broken shoulder, one boy with multiple fractures to different bones in his face, several stitched cuts, and a lot of bruises and swelling. Please pray for complete healing for all involved, physically and emotionally. 2. This accident has caused extremely large hospital bills that are far beyond what Rehema Home can realistically cover within our normal monthly budget. We have also lost one of our Rehema vehicles. Please pray that additional funding, above what we normally receive on a monthly basis, will come in to assist us with covering these bills. Thank you for your prayers and God bless.
