This morning, I had a chance meet up with one of my childhood - TopicsExpress

This morning, I had a chance meet up with one of my childhood friends for breakfast. Over the past few years we have fallen out of contact between our careers and letting life get in the way. We spent two+ hours in a corner booth catching up on life. We talked husbands, babies (she has an incredibly cute little girl that she gushed about and I went on and on about our fur babies) careers, travel, health, and wellness. We celebrated our accomplishments and stated intentions for the new year. During our conversation and though out this afternoon I started to think back to her wedding. I was honored to be asked to stand by her side as she married her best friend but wanted nothing more than to hide in the background. I was at heaviest weight and lowest point of my life. Looking back on it today, I wish that someone would have had to courage to tell me that I was out of control with what I considered acceptable or healthy! The conversation would have shook me to my core, tears would have flowed, and I am sure I would have carried a grudge, but in the end it would have been for my own darn good! We often tip-toe around the ones we love and fail to express our concerns for fear of hurting them, but in all honestly, we are doing more harm than good by not having the courage to tell them what they need to hear and more than likely what they already know. As I sit in my office reading through the questionnaires that several ladies have completed to take part in my new 12 week health coaching program, I am seeing a common trend. Each of these ladies want help, but are either scared to ask for help or dont know who to turn to for help. That was me, the girl who was in denial that she needed help and scared to death to ask for help, but once I did there was no stopping me! Get uncomfortable, have the conversation. Come from a place of love, compassion, extend the olive branch to someone who you know needs to help on their health and wellness journey. As the new year approaches dont tip toe around the ones you love. Help them create a plan for a healthier and happier 2015.
