This morning I witnessed something that happens way too much in this world - abuse. I was coming out of the gas station and just sat down in my van and rolled the windows down. I heard yelling and looked up and saw an older man, an older woman and a little boy. The old man was screaming curse words at the woman and pushing and shoving her against the wall. The old woman was putting her hands up, defensively, over her face and head. The little boy was crying so hard and trying to get the old man from hurting the old woman. The old man pushed the little boy and screamed curse words at him too. This all happened so fast, and before I could get out of my van to help, a woman came out of the gas station and screamed at the old man if you want to hit someone, hit me. In the meantime, lots of people had come running out of the gas station and one lady was taking a picture of the license plate on their car. The little boy had to be about seven years old and was holding his face and crying so hard in his hands. The old man just acted like it was no big deal. The police came and I had to make a statement as to what I saw, as did several other people. I guess he had shoved her and cursed at her inside the gas station too, so they were going to review the surveillance tapes so they could maybe arrest him. The old woman lied to the police about what happened - Im sure to protect the old man because she knew he would get her later if she told the truth. The sweet little boy just sat in the back seat crying hysterically. Im sure this was his grampa and grandma and he probably witnesses this every day. I asked the policeman if I could get the little boy out of the car and let him sit in my van next to Britt and watch a dvd until everything was resolved. He said that I couldnt because it was an ongoing investigation at that time. I will never get that little boys face out of my mind and pray that he gets taken out of that situation.
