This morning I woke with an urge to explain why the number twelve - TopicsExpress

This morning I woke with an urge to explain why the number twelve is an awesome number. It can be two rows of six, or three rows of four, or four rows of three. It is known as a dozen in some quarters. A bakers dozen is thirteen. My Daddy explained to me that the extra one was for the poor sop who had to run to the bakery, and so they wouldnt get into trouble for eating one on the way home, the baker would add one to the dozen. That way theyd still have the dozen they were sent for in the first place, and not have to suffer from the delicious smell coming from their basket or bag. Im sure there are numerological reasons (of which I am unfamiliar) that the number twelve is awesome. If any of you know those reasons, please feel free to share what they are in the comments below. I was raised in a family that contained twelve children. It was a LOT of people around the table. We each had to learn to respect what the others were saying, so that they would respect us when it was our turn to speak. There were reportedly twelve disciples of Jesus. I cannot name them all now, but if my life depended upon it, I probably could. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Judas come to mind right off the bat. I believe there was a Paul and another Paul who is now known as Saul. Perhaps a Samuel, and maybe a Timothy. If Im right, that would make nine. I dont know why I even tried... maybe its time for me to go to Google. Im pretty sure that exhausts my own knowledge of the number twelve. Any more I should know? I know theres more. Someone please illuminate me on this topic. Thanks. :)
