This morning at 6am, on his 98th birthday, my grandpa Frank N. Morgenstern left this world. We are fortunate to have had him in our lives and to have spent the past week with him. The funeral will be held in New York, Monday 8/5, 11pm at Old Mt. Caramel Cemetery. Frank was a true patriarch: fiercely headstrong and determined, a role model of how to live a life of principle. I remember the stories of his harsh parenting, his soft grandfathering, and in later years a beautiful mellowing of his personality even while his wit remained sharp. From his obituary: Attorney, mortgage banker, real estate and hotel developer, investor, philanthropist and champion tennis player. He conducted his life brilliantly, meritoriously, without pretense or vanity, with an unparalleled strong will, and his success was never flaunted. Goodbye and we love you grandpa.
