This note goes out to all Mustang enthusiasts. I don’t often post my name here but I do post very often under the name MCA. I am writing tonight about Eli Williams. Many of you may have read about Eli the 9YO die hard Mustang fan with brain cancer. Still others may have caught wind about the car show for Eli tomorrow in Athens AL. One thing that has occurred to me during this effort is how hard it is to connect with people in the digital world. People don’t read text any more in social channels. You are lucky if they see a fleeting image as it passes through the continuous stream of updates and game requests. Sometimes though there are true gems out there waiting to be discovered and a connection to be made. For me this has been Eli and trying to make tomorrow a day to remember for him. Eli’s mother hosts a blog at stansgotafrog where she gives updates on Eli and his progress. Today’s post talks about how Eli is looking forward to the car show tomorrow and how she has been overwhelmed by the show of support from the clubs and community for Eli. It was this picture of Eli however with his new MCA membership card that really helped me connect with Eli. You see Eli is one of the newest and proudest members of the Mustang Club of America. He is one of us! Unfortunately distance prevents me from attending the event tomorrow. Still I wish the best for everyone and hope the day is perfect for Eli. As a club we struggle with connecting with today’s youth, however this is one opportunity we can say has not slipped by. Eli, welcome to the MCA my friend! A special thanks to Lawrence Taylor-Duncan for the idea of the event and Joseph Scott and the Limestone County Mustang Club for keeping everything together and making it happen! The MCA would be proud to have you as a regional club!
