This notion that we have to consume carbs before a workout in order to “have energy” is misinformed. The body isn’t that short-sighted. We are perfectly capable of producing remarkable amounts of energy without a pre-workout cupcake and to encourage a constant carb-load can have detrimental long term effects...leaving us fat, slow, & way too tiii. Pre-workout carbs are only beneficial if we’re glycogen depleted (i.e.…dieting our face off), are GOING TO be glycogen depleted (i.e.…running a marathon / working out for 2 hours), or don’t give a rats ass about our body composition and want to move as much weight as possible (i.e.…are a power lifter.) If this doesn’t apply to you then step away from the pre-workout carbs and watch your performance, body composition, and, yes, energy-levels improve. #NotLowCarb #SmartCarb
