This page has been created by a group of concerned citizens to disperse information and promote community involvement for Collins Middle School. This is not intended to exclude the remaining schools in Fayette County, but to help meet the immediate needs of the Collins campus. Collins Middle School has 803 students enrolled, grades 5-8. During the last 6 months, 2 of the buildings on campus have been condemned. The band building was condemned during the summer months, and the gymnasium was deemed unfit for use in December. The gymnasium not only provided a place for physical education classes, sporting events and school functions, it also housed the Wellness Center which offered medical, dental and behavioral care to all enrolled students, staff, and others. The boys bathroom in the 5th and 6th grade building has been closed pending repair. Due to the current situation, classrooms have been disrupted, healthcare is no longer provided, the boys bathroom in one building has been closed causing students to have to travel to the main building to use restroom, and the safety of the students and faculty is a real concern. We have begun working together, as a group to take the steps needed to assure that the students and faculty of this school have a safe and healthy learning environment.
