This page is about finding Toby an amazing forever home. But we also wanted to share this very sad story about Fire. Fire is a 4 year old pitbull who lived with her family since she was a tiny puppy. She lived with kids and loved her humans. Her mom no longer had money to care for her and for a long time did not have food to feed her so she fed her only the scraps that her children did not finish at dinner. She spent all of her time tied to a door on a 4 foot leash because she was never house trained and they felt it was easier to keep her in one spot so she didnt go potty all over the apartment. A fellow rescuer happened to come across Fire as she was doing an inspection in her home and asked about her and thats how she found out her story. A wonderful woman who I call my friend went and dropped off a 45lb bag of dog food so Fire did not go hungry any longer. Fire was picked up Friday and went to a temporary foster just for this weekend as she was spayed yesterday and was given her vaccines because for 4 years she was not up to date. This beautiful girl will unfortunately go to boarding at the local shelter tomorrow because her weekend foster works too many hours during the week and cannot keep her during the week. We also needed to get her out of her living situation because her mom was speaking to someone about selling her to a person for $35. We were able to talk to her and let her know that was probably someone looking for bait dogs. We could not let her sell Fire for bait. If anyone can foster Fire temporarily until a permanent home comes along please contact us. We would want to show Fire that life is not about being tied to a door all day.
