This page is dedicated to a thoroughbred mare named Nala. Miss Nala has a semi rare condition of being a horse with a cleft palate. . As Nalas main rider when I first heard of her condition I had no idea what it was. So as any normal human being who had no idea what something was I started googling. Unfortunately, I came across very poor prognoses of horses with cleft palates. I read many vet forums on how the horses usually never lasted long and will never be athletes. Due to reading this I was bewildered when I began to think that Nala, a 7 year old thoroughbred, I had been riding showed hardly any signs of being unfit to be a athlete. Confused and down I tried to find a blog of someone with a horse with Nalas condition. I hardly found any with real recognition. Fortunately for Nala she is in the care of the amazing staff of volunteers at Furlong Furlough Farm a thoroughbred rescue. We all are always heartbroken when potential adopters feel the need to turn her away because of this condition. I do not blame any of these potential adopters because horses are a big investment why buy a useless and unhealthy one. So in honor of Nala and other horses like her, I am creating a page to document her health whether it be good or bad. I will show she is worthy of a forever home and show that with this minor set back we will prove numerous people wrong!
