This particular moment made me surprise myself last night during the die in: A young couple joins us after the woman expressed the need to participate. About a foot and a half from me. A few moments pass and another participant respectfully addresses the group with a couple of guidelines -the bodies on the floor are to be of color -allies are encouraged to stand with hands up/signs around those representing dead bodies The couple does not have to get up Later, the young woman says she disagrees with the policy. Said it sounded like segregation in a movement we should be unified. Then I mean, Im half white so what ab.. I didnt let her finish that one. I didnt yell, just calmly explained And so am I. And youre on the floor with me. Because you woulda been in the house with me. Because you woulda been beat beside me. And because THEY can talk to officers in a way WE cant get away with. Thats the reason. I swear I saw it sink in her spirit. She nodded and we kept bein dead brown bodies breathin for now. #blacklivesmatter #allblacklivesmatter
