This past week started off looking quite promising with the height - TopicsExpress

This past week started off looking quite promising with the height at 2ft 6ins on Monday morning but the river began rising again so that did slow up our chances a bit, but a 2lb sea trout was landed later that evening. Tuesday a 4.5lb grilse was landed in Cottage with the height at 1ft 6ins. Wednesday a 5lb grilse was landed in Grey Mare with the height at 1ft 1in. Thursday the height was 1ft 2ins and rising which didnt help but a fresh 15lb fish was landed in Cottage late evening. Friday the height was 1ft 2ins and there seemed to be one or two more about but surprisingly only a 4lb grilse being landed from the Grey Mare. Saturday the height was 2ft 6ins and rising after some very heavy over night rain and not looking great but Olga Wright who is a very competent fisher lady hooked and landed her first of the week on Saturday afternoon in the Grey Mare on a Junction Shrimp tube, it weighed 12lb and was still carrying a few lice. Other successful flies were Allys shrimp and Cascades. With heavy rain falling and forecast it should keep us topped up this week. With the change of weather in mind, a few more fish making an appearance and only 9 1/2 weeks of the season to go why not book a few extra days fishing. What could be better than catching a salmon in the morning, having a chin wag over lunch in the fishing hut and then having another go in the afternoon taking in the breathtaking scenery and surroundings at the same time. Even better, why not rustle up 3 friends and take a few days fishing and book the onsite self catering accommodation for a really fantastic fishing trip - bring the wives too to keep the peace. We have a couple of days fishing left for August and some more availability in September. Have a look on the FishDee web page for availability or call Audrey directly on 01224 872972 to book. We look forward to welcoming you to Cairnton. Cheers Brian
