This past weekend, former Director James Foster participated in the United Nation University-WIDER’s Inequality Conference in Helsinki, Finland. Professor Foster has been a frequent contributor to UNU-WIDERs efforts to research and analyze policy that affects the world’s poorest people. Diverging from traditional methods of evaluating poverty, Professor Foster introduced the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), which accounts for education, health, living conditions, and sanitation.
