This period when Ive been down and bitter, I got a call from an old friend. A woman who is not my mate,mind you. Shes married with kids but shes become family and, a bunch of us never miss a chance to visit and share laughs, fellowship and eat plenty food. We hadnt seen each other or spoken in a while. The moment she saw my Facebook post, she picked up the phone and encouraged me and prayed with me. So did a number of others. Let me tell you why I dont hesitate to call some folks family and not friends. You see all those pictures we post online? All the laughs and yabs? All the gist? It s not fake. Weve built up a family unit. People who dont care about church, whose pastor did what, tribe, age, marital status, salary package and what else we find these days that people fight over. Family is not just blood. Its the people who fight tooth and nail to push you forward. The ones who plead for names and addresses of people who hurt you so they can find and destroy them. Lol! Theyre the ones who make your every victory theirs. The ones who make your every pain and setback theirs. The ones who will be ill and make sure you are OK. They are the ones who stay with you through thick and thin and not leave. THATS what family is.
