This photo of me and Big Stoney was taken just outside of Great Lakes Naval Base in Great Lakes, Il. The picture was take in the summer of 85 after 8 weeks of basic and during 4 weeks of fleet training. I remember the 1st few weeks it was still a little cool especially at night when the window dressing was ever other window open. Something you couldnt change. Well the cool / cold air off the lake caused me a little nasal congestion. Needless to say it took my snoring to another level. I honestly felt sorry for the guys that slept near me. During morning inspections a few would give me the mean mug but nobody ever said anything because I was the first platoon commander ( boot camp title ) and in charge of scheduling the 2 hour night watches. Well I guess snoring runs in the family. Take for instance my brother Alvin. Harley Davidson has got nothing on him. As a matter of fact I think they named one of their signature bikes after him. The Harley Davidson Ford. Alvin has the ability to clear a small hotel. People would come out saying, Man what was that? I thought it was a freight train. Man when I felt the vibration, I thought it was an earthquake. You think building 7 came down fast. Well its probably a good thing we dont travel much together because if we did, boy we could bring down some walls.
