This photo was taken on the 15th of august. Right after a car bombing in the southern suburb of Beirut, Dahiye. Where many of my friends and family live. My sister in soul Mariam and her family live next door, my uncle Thabet lives next door, my aunt Fatima lives next door, my cousin lives next door. Bomb explosions in Beirut and elsewhere in Lebanon are not unusual. But, my friend, don´t ask me who to blame, don´t tell me all those conspiracy theories. War is war, Killing is killing. And I am far away, my hands are tied. The sun is shining in Berlin, I have a job, I have friends, good food, good clothes, safe roads, safe cars, safe pubs, parties, festivals. Yes, it´s kinda safe here, and I shouldn´t complain. But don´t get me wrong if I am sometimes not in the mood, to laugh at the jokes, or to stay patient when people are talking shit. Don´t get me wrong, I grew up like that. Far away from what is happening, but don´t you think it has no impact on me. My thoughts are with you Mariam.
