This post could be quite upsetting for some people but it has been shared around the world now from colorado to isreal to spain and finland to name just a few places. i wasnt sure wether or not to post it on my own page as it makes me feel a bit sick looking at it but it is purely to raise awareness of the importance of being completely honest with your groomer about your dogs behavioural issues if they have any. does your dog bite? is your dog nervous of people? how has your dog behaved for other groomers? we dont neccassarily turn dogs away if they may b ite but we do need to know so we can take precautions to protect ourselves from injuries like these. Unfortunately i was on the recieving end of a very nast bite on Friday 31st Oct. The owner told me the dog had never bitten anyone and had never had a problem being groomed. After said dog was collected after he mawled me i was then informed that the dog had bitten his own owner on the face twice. the fact that i was not given all the honest facts lead to this horrific injury. Please Please be honest with us everyone. we are here to help your Dogs. Not to put ourselves in Danger. Thanks to Gal Groom for starting this massive awareness drive which is going viral. I have shared another groomers Quote who shared this picture and incident around England. She wrote: Firstly I apologise for the graphic picture. But I need to show you this as it is important. This isnt a made up story or some Halloween make up - this man is a Dog Groomer and he is undergoing surgery as I type this. He was bitten by a dog he was grooming and although the breed is irrelevant, it was small and certainly NOT one of the breeds that the media like to hype up. This man wont make the news. He wont even get line in the local paper. He will, however sustain a permanent disfigurement. He loves his job and he will carry on grooming, but this could so easily have been far worse I cant stress how important it is to ensure your dog is used to being well handled from a very young age. All too often we see dogs for their first visit when they have become matted because owners are unable to brush them. Groomers are them expected to groom a dog who is not only matted, and not used to being handled, but is scared, and when dogs are scared they can lash out. Please advise your Groomer at the time of booking if your dog is nervous, unfamiliar to the grooming process or even just a grumpy bundle of fluff It could mean that your Groomer may need an extra pair of hands, or may want to break the grooming up into weekly stages. This will obviously incur a cost. You may also be advised (depending on the severity) to seek help from a behaviourist (again this will cost money). It will also require a lot of effort from owners inbetween grooming visits Getting puppies used to grooming from a young age is very important and something that is often forgotten
