This post is about todays final mission effort. I will try to post many pic but they will mean little if you do not read entire status Headed now to the AIC girls boarding school. Getting out of the city is just like home. Gridlocked traffic, people hustling, horns blowing, billboards, murals, and etc. On our way our van experienced some mechanical problems. In Kenya ago mechanics are lined up on the side of the road. When you break down they will come to your car and fix on spot. We all loaded into other vehicles and kept going. Had to,walk in front of cow to get into van. Upon arrival we were greeted by the head mistress. Cathleen Lenku. They prepared a fresh fruit, water, and hot tea reception. Sis Jessica Simpson is a missionary from our National BaptistConvention who has been living over here for a year. She has identified and been working with these girls since that time. AIC girls school. 703 girls in a boarding school. They live in 10 dormitories. These girls have suffered many adverse situations. Early marriages (as early as 9 years old), Abuse, brutally raped, extreme poverty, physically handi-capped, and more. Most of These girls have been rescued and separated from their families and this school has offered them their only hope. This is a rescue mission Some of these girls were sold or traded for cows. This school began in 1959. As rescue mission for girls. There are also some now that are actually brought by their parents who can provide a tuition for the benefit of the great training provided. We have helped to supplies so many of their needs that we possess without even thinking. Shoes, clothes, education, sincere concern and more. We have brought not only gifts for the children but also the teachers. Each teacher was given a Kindle tablet and one of the churches from Milwaukee Wi. Is providing all the books that can be downloaded to the kindles. No other missions have ever brought a blessing for their teachers. Praise God! While here at the school we tried to utilize all of the expertise of out team. The doctors performed examinations, the pastors provided encouragement and hope for the 8th grade girls that are preparing for national exams, the educators sat in on classrooms and assisted teachers. We were able to pray with, to meet and encourage, and answer so many questions. These girls are soooo smart and articulate. It is amazing to see the progress they have made from such incredible beginnings. They are in constant need of food, uniforms, teaching materials and more. We took an offering from amongst our team of 126,00 shillings. (49,000 shillings plus $750.00 US dollars. ) We realize what may be little to us is monumental to them. A $100.00gift is equal mito 8,500 shillings. This is a worthy causes that could certainly use and appreciate your support. So many ask, what can I do? One of these may be a project that you, your church, your organization, or family may want to make a one-time or continual sacrifice.
