This post isnt so much a contribution to the various ensuing indyref debates as a reflection upon my experience of them. Ive mostly been about 80% sure I should vote yes, however after participating in and observing discussion involving people of various views more researched or grounded than my own, (and reading Daniel Kahnemans thinking fast and slow on the flaws of human rationality particularly when it comes to understanding that past or predicting the future, which I highly recommend) Im now closer to 55% certain. Ive searched but failed to find a single source or line of argument I can be entirely convinced by. To my surprise the position for which my sympathy has grown the most is that of mostly staying out of the debate (not to say thats my disposition I just find it more reasonable than I used to).
