This probably isnt the space or the time...but Im a writer...and so I write. To put into words what all of us are thinking.... What the hell.....why now? Why Robin Williams? My first introduction to Robin Williams was watching this brilliant comedian on a weekly program called Mork and Mindy. The slapstick comedy was second to none and soon climbed the TV rankings to take the #1 spot most weeks. What a treat it was to sit and watch this alien learn how to be human, fall in love, and live a normal human-like life. The Egg...the suspenders...*sigh Next was Mrs. Doubtfire...how do you write enough about a man who is so diverse in his acting that he can play any role thrown at him? One assignment of my younger son (in elementary school) was to write a letter to a favorite person...he chose Robin Williams. Somewhere I have signed photos of him as Mrs. Doubtfire. Dead Poets Society, Patch, countless interviews...including one that will forever be etched in my memory. James Lipton on the Bravo channel interviewed Robin Williams. The interview was 6 hours long...but only 2 hours made it to the program. To say Williams was brilliant is an understatement. Any accent, any situation, any improv that was thrown his direction never and I mean NEVER stumped him. Time stood still for just a moment when I read the words of his passing. My heart is sad....sad that this great man, this great family man who loved his children and wife,was in such turmoil inside that he took his own life. People, it can happen so quickly...to any of us at any time. Please, please, please...hold those close to you a little closer tonight. Appreciate the special gifts of all people and love unconditionally. With humble gratitude and love for all of you, I share my tears.
