This short narrative could be called “The Bella Novella!” This three-year-old Labrador Retriever mix was found wandering in someones backyard last summer. Bella was picked up by animal control on July 22, 2013 and taken to the Darlington County Humane Society shelter in South Carolina. Everyone thought her owner would come looking for her. But no such luck for Bella. However, she was fortunate enough to get a temporary foster home while she waited for a rescue to take her. And wait she did! Month after month passed with no interest in Bella. It didnt help that she was heartworm positive. Then, on April 14th, Home At Last Dog Rescue in Pennsylvania expressed interest in taking Bella! There was just one catch: Bella first had to get her heartworm treatment done. Susan Blakeney, RADARs liaison with the Darlington County Humane Society Rescue, contacted us to see if we could help. We agreed and Bella was safe! Bella had her heartworm treatment done on May 14th. Without a foster home available to recover from her heartworm treatment, and the shelter too crowded and stressful, Bella was boarded until her transport on June 14th. RADAR and Darlington dog supporter Melissa Feeney generously donated to cover all of Bellas boarding costs. Susan shared this with us about Bella: Shes full of love and kisses, and has energy to share! Shes very playful and interactive with other dogs. Bella thrives at being the center of attention, and demands lots of love! Please donate to Bellas Fund - $455 raised of $639 goal: raisingaidfordogsatrisk.org/bella3 #radardogs #rescuedogs #funditforward Fund It Forward!
