This song is devoted to Vaclav Havel, the first President of the Czech Republic. Susanne met President Havel when she was asked to sing something for his birthday party in 2006. She chose Toms Diner, knowing he was going to spend time at Columbia University later that fall. This led to a friendship cut short by his death in 2011. While he was in prison in the 1980s, he wrote to his wife Olga that God is the horizon that gives everything meaning... (Ive paraphrased it here.) Last year Susanne wrote the song Horizon, as she thought about his life and how to put his teachings into a song. In honor of his birthday the song today here:
