This story has been widely shared today so we decided to share a few salient points. 1) Purchasing breastmilk is unwise. Sellers can be motivated by money to hide details of their health status. 2) Breastmilk donors are taking time out of their day to pump and have zero incentive to be dishonest. 3) Its shocking to see such a poorly designed study published in a reputable journal like Pediatrics (link to the article in comments). Of all the samples tested for this study, every single one was purchased anonymously, therefore removing any possible safety net. To top if off, the milk was allowed to thaw and go rancid for several DAYS. There are certain guidelines that must be followed when it comes to shipping and handling frozen human milk. These guidelines were NOT followed by the researchers, and the products that they tested were already rancid and unfit for human consumption before they even opened the boxes. Is it any surprise that bacteria were found in these samples? Absolutely not. https://facebook/bekki.hill/posts/10151773752038985
