This talk dovetails w/“Probing Visual Perception Outside of Conscious Awareness” held last week at FAU Boca Raton The link w/synesthesia suggests our human ability to see self-motion is likely based on neural connections between the senses. From my work with balance and movement disorders I know sensory cross-talk underlies synesthesia. And weve begun to compare illumination of the optic nerve with a poly chromatic light and the vibration of areas of the body with high clusters of kinetically-oriented sensory nerves, i.e., behind knees and upper lip, w/ targeted vibroacoustics. Brains are wired for connectivity. Reports of the strength of visual images vary widely among participants, but synesthetes have been strikingly better at not just seeing movement, but also experiencing clear visual form. As an extreme example in the eye tracking experiment, one synesthete exhibited near perfect smooth eye movement—95 percent accuracy—as she followed her hand in darkness. In other words, she could track her hand in total darkness as well as if the lights were on. https://youtube/watch?v=lBm4fvCwcGM
