This tired mama is sick and tired of being sick and tired. I have a request to anyone who wants to get paid for a simple task that will help me out tremendously. If you are good with kids and available during day-evening- occasional nights or are curious to know what it is like to raise a special needs child without family please read on. I/Troy was approved for SARC (San Andreas Regional Center) a few years ago and have not received any services that we qualify for. I have been to busy and mentally tired to deal with the hassle of calling to advocate and constantly remind them that here I am wanting and needing help. I spent an entire year (Troy age 2-3) getting his diagnosis SSI, testing and schooling in order it involved nerve recking blood tests and hard hitting decisions as well as the tiring stress of dragging my young one along (Aaron was a baby). I am about to go down that road, calling almost daily during Blakes naps to advocate but I have a proposal first. One of the services is referred to as RESPITE (I get a paid for babysitter 24 hrs per month, that is qualified to handle special needs children) but respite only covers Troy so I would have to pay someone to watch Blake and Aaron anyway and or Troy would probably be watched but not be out and about with me learning how shopping works how the postal service works how to be quite and patient in a busy social setting etc. I can choose a sitter from the program or recommend someone to them that they will hire so to speak. I may want this person once hired to go to the park with us or to the grocery store ( I shouldnt have to always leave Troy home it isnt fair to him or me, I miss out on family time and alone time with Carlos, or Troy solely misses out) I always feel too tired or overwhelmed to go to the park or store or shopping or the market so I wait till Carlos is home from work and go then causing more work for each of us. If no one wants to apply for respite with me is fine I have been mostly alone in this struggle for years, but recent events have caused me to want to revaluate my capabilities my wants and my responsibility to my family Troy needs inclusion (being included in normal social activities that teach him the social normalcy and boundaries that he lacks) not seclusion ( being left behind or excluded from normal social activities because he is hard to handle and lacks proper understanding of social boundaries and appropriate volume and activities).
