I was inspired by this tragic incident to write a song called Trouble Sleeping.. I recall that the murder happened in what was termed a short cut known only to local people. so i presumed the culprit was local and was living with the weight of being a murderer.. The song concerns the aftermath of the murder..the victim.. the parents.. the culprit.. the community.. here is the lyric and the song Flowers... Flowers for the unsolved Flowers... White for a child Flowers... Flowers for the unsolved Flowers... Grief growing wild Mother and a father Father and a mother Murder in a country lane Bring on the blood and the bandages Murder in a lovely place Silence has advantages Murder in a quiet place Trouble is tangible Murder in a lovely place Its larger than life Living... Living in the aftermath Living in the midst of mistakes Living with the space We face and we fear the unknown Apart and alone Somewhere theres trouble sleeping Plug is pulled tonight Somewhere the door is creaking Trouble sleeping tight Were having trouble sleeping Hiding from the light Somewhere theres trouble sleeping Its larger than life Murder in a country lane Bring on the blood and the bandages Murder in a lovely place Ill make the tea and the sandwiches Murder in a quiet place Trouble is...the trouble is... Rumours at the time were Gavin McGuire was in Irvine that day seeing his Criminal Justice worker but they couldnt put him at the scene as all evidence was blown away by helicopter. Seems she was going to Bourtreehill shops from Middleton park where she lived, but at the time it was widely reported as being at the bmx track, which is in the opposite direction, maybe that was just where she was left?
