This truly is a life changing experience. I have worked with deep trauma, large and small. I have experienced quick shifts and worked regularly with clients for ongoing change, however learning the depth and the enormity of the damage and devastation of the genocide of the Bosnian war has given me a whole new perspective on dealing with trauma and PTSD. There is no quick fix here. 20 Years on and there is still pain and suffering - such amazing people who have been in concentration camps for years, rape camps, had their children killed by snipers, kept under house arrest and repeatedly raped, seen their loved ones beaten, raped and killed. It is the scale of the suffering and the strength and dignity of the people slowly rebuilding their lives that makes me emotional.
