This update on Toni Lulu Passarelli Quillin posted by Dan. Please keep those prayers going; theyre working! It is 4am. I managed to get 5 hours of sleep before waking up to this nightmare. Our friends and families have been very supportive throughout this. Right now, at 4am, I feel so alone. I know Toni would want me to update all her facebook friends of her progress, so I have been. I have now come to realize how many very good and loving friends she has on this website. I find myself drawn to this page to release my feelings when Im alone, knowing that you all are listening and really do care. I dont have a facebook page of my own. I never had one and never cared about it. Our computer is just a few feet from the recliner where I watch TV while Toni was on facebook. While she was on facebook, I have seen her laugh, I have seen her cry and I have seen her get angry at some peoples comments. I have always told her I thought it was silly and she should just get off it. But she would always go right back to it. I understand now why she loved this so much. The friends she has on here are incredible. You people are the most caring, loving and supportive people I have never met. I see now why she always asks me to travel the entire country and world with her to meet some of you people. I will continue to update all of you of her progress. As of last night when I left, the doctors have isolated a major issue and are treating it. It may be that all this is stemming from a clamp that was placed in her to close off a valve that the gall bladder was attached to. That clamp came loose or off somehow and all the fluid that would have normally drained into the gall bladder was now draining into her stomach. The bacteria in the fluid gave her infection that caused her temp to rise over 102. The bloating in her stomach caused her breathing to be limited. The doctors havent said this but it might be that the kidneys couldnt process this and that is why her kidneys have shut down. She is now of full kidney dialysis. They placed a tube in her to drain the fluid out of her stomach. The nurse said when they first put the tube in, the fluid came gushing out like a kinked hose that just got unkinked. They instantly got 5 pints of fluid out. Then the fluid was just simply draining. The hope is that the valve now will seal itself and the fluid will stop draining into her stomach. She looked so much better last night when I left. Color was back in her face and she just looked much more comfortable. We can only pray that this is the answer. It is the hope that now she can start to wean off the ventilator again since there is no bloating in her stomach inhibiting her breathing. It is the hope that the antibiotics will begin to work now and her fever will subside since that infectious bacteria is draining from her stomach. It is the hope that her kidneys will now start up again now that they dont have to try to process the infectious bacteria. Keep in mind that these are my hopes and the doctors and they are just hopes. The doctor described it as one step up a huge mountain. We have a lot of steps to get to the top. If we make it to the top, its all down hill from there, but an avalanche could come at any moment and knock right back down to the bottom. Keep the prayers and well wishes coming. You people are the greatest people in the world. God bless... Dan
