This used to be a nation where it was fairly standard for generations to be able to surpass what it was their parents were able to achieve.. now there are so many people I know who have surpassed their parents from an educational standpoint, but are struggling to obtain what their parents were able to.. home ownership, a car or 2, hell, even the luxury of one parent staying home. If we do not pressure our government to do its job and live up to its self proclaimed land of opportunity moniker, I fear what tomorrow may hold for our children. Whether you believe there are too many greedy people doing nothing for themselves at the bottom or too many greedy people doing too much for themselves at the top, the bottom line is greed is destroying our economy. Perhaps following the regulatory models that got us out of our first great depression is a blueprint to begin to effect a change. All I can be confident in as someone who pays a little attention is that as long as Democrats or Republicans remain in the pocket of big businesses and our delegated officials are former CEOs of said businesses, nothing will change. Stop pouring tax money into prison and war. Stop taking Social Security from us if you never intend to let us see it. Stop destroying and imposing on our farmlands. Stop using the media to ensure that the people are pointing their fingers amongst the 99% as opposed to demanding the change that needs to be regulated within the 1%. Dont ignore the impact that Middle and lower class consumerism can have on our Economy. Stop treating our veterans like dirt. Stop acting as if your fellow human is a burden on you. Where has our compassion gone? Dont ignore the fact that there are an estimated 1,750,000 homeless people in our country. Dont ignore the fact that there are over 50 million people in our country suffering from hunger. Dont ignore the fact that we have the resources to help all of these people and do not ignore the fact that these are our BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS. We get so absorbed in ourselves due to the outlets we have at our leisure that we tend to ignore real issues. If you do not think a change is necessary, please tell me why.
