This very thing was demonstrated on Mythbusters as well... People criticize officers for excessive use of deadly force without even understanding the full tactical nature of the senerios. Officers are trained to make split second decision that error on the side of self defense and the defense of the innocent. This video demonstrates how quickly a knife wielding suspect can kill. A suspect within 10 feet undetained can be fatal. I taught close quarters security force tactics in the military and understand use of deadly force guidlines. A defiant suspect is a security and safety risk that must be detained or subdued swiftly and safely. Those of you that speak as if you know what is right in these media clips showing police shooting from a safe distance, having never been in that situation, need to hold your ignorant tongues.
