This video shows how a perfectly legitimate question by a Scottish MP in Westminster is met with derision, jeering and laughter. And yes I know he doesnt actually say were stupid - but calling it a stupid question is just as problematic. In fact worse, because it suggests that it is more than mere banter. The very idea of it is nonsensical. Closing down sensible debate. This is not the kind of political system I want to be involved with. This style of politics does the whole of the UK a disservice. Ive hoped my whole life that this would change but I cannot see it changing in rUK. So Ill take the chance Im being offered next month. I will look forwards, not backwards. Its not about people, or parties. Yes, there will be work involved to change things. But Im prepared to try. Please remember, its about changing the system. The whole political landscape in Scotland could change afterwards. It might even - eventually - lead to more balance in Scottish politics, which has for some time now been skewed by current tensions over the union/anti- Tory thinking.
