The TRUTH ... the fishing boat on dry land in the actual photo featured in the IFSCIENCE site was the result of mismanagement of Russian water resources. Briefly, Russian leaders wanted to horn in on the American cotton industry (i.e., a virtual American monopoly of the cotton market) by producing vast amounts of cotton. In order to produce all this cotton, Russian leaders ordered the major source of water into the Aral sea be diverted. The result .... no more Aral sea. Russian leaders are now scrambling to try to undo the damage done. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH MANS ENVIRONMENTAL ARROGANCE. JUST BECAUSE WE CAN CHANGE SOMETHING DOESNT MEAN WE SHOULD.
