This was the moment that defined my worldview on how bad the media - TopicsExpress

This was the moment that defined my worldview on how bad the media is. If CNN had 2 guests from 2 different parties on, and one said the sky was purple, and the other said the sky was green, CNN would say Both of you have interesting points, but well have to leave it there. If I ran a network, both of those guests would have been challenged on the facts, and if they dodged, theyd never be invited back. With Fox and MSNBC, at least you know where you stand. Fox would just make shit up. MSNBC, depending on the hour, would either yell mindless beltway bluster at you with Chris Matthews, or have a conservative conversation in the morning, or thoughtful nuance with Rachel Maddow. But at least they took a position. The media continues to be completely broken, and this is a definitive reminder of everything thats wrong with it. This moment got Crossfire cancelled. (Of course, they brought it back because awful sells.) I dont care what party you are a part of. This isnt about throwing gotcha questions at politicians. Its about actually holding them accountable. Which no network seems capable of doing ever. When someone spins you, dont let them keep the twirling going. Grab them by the shoulders, look them in the eye, and make them give an honest answer to a damn question. Until we no longer have a complacent media, politicians will continue to spew bile, and we as a country will get dumber, more partisan, and divisive. And that is firmly in the medias hands to really fix. So Im not holding my breath. Jon Stewart was amazing, wasnt he?
