This week I want to focus on deep hip stretches. We use our hip - TopicsExpress

This week I want to focus on deep hip stretches. We use our hip flexors and extensors on a daily basis and hardly ever give it a good stretch. The internal and external muscles of the abdomen, hips and thighs work together, agonists and antagonists imposing equal resistance to keep the upper and lower body in alignment. What is often forgotten is that to keep structurally fit, these muscles must be stretched as well as contracted. A weak or underdeveloped muscle in the group causes the rectus abdominis to pull the balance of the body forward. If key muscles of the hips and thighs, such as the iliopsas and the hamstrings, are regularly stretched, they can counter this tendency by pulling the pelvis upright.
