This week at #FestivalFilmClub, we sent David Foucher to review Dumb And Dumber To at Empire Cinema Basildon. It’s safe to say that after the film first being announced as in the making, Dumb and Dumber To has been one of the most highly anticipated comedies for a long time. As a fan of the first one, like most people, I had been very eager to see the sequel. Similarly to the first film, part two takes a while to set up the story. The main characters Lloyd and Harry set off on an adventure to find Harry’s long lost daughter, and of course in Dumb and Dumber fashion, run into their comedic stumbles along the way. Even though it has been 20 years since the first film was released, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels make it look so easy mirroring a character they played two decades ago. The story itself was mediocre, there was nothing particularly gripping about it, although there were some fairly humorous parts which kept you hanging on for more. I myself didnt mind as much, but there were one or two unexpectedly crude scenes during the film which I know did not go down as well with everybody who watched it, but don’t let it put you off going to see it. If you’re looking for a comedy that will have you in stitches the whole way through, Dumb and Dumber To may not be the one to watch. But if you’re looking for a light-hearted film which will have you chuckling on occasion, as long as your expectations arent too high, you won’t come out disappointed.
