This week in 1974: Bad Company went to #1 on the US albums chart with their self-titled debut (it peaked at #3 in the UK), released on Island Records in the UK & on Led Zeppelins new Swan Song label in North America; Paul Rodgers & Simon Kirke originated from Free, while Mick Ralphs had played guitar with Mott the Hoople & Boz Burrell was bass player for King Crimson before the group formed in 1973; they produced six albums before disbanding in 1983, but this one served as the template for a return to basic, no-frills, meatnpotatoes blues-based rock in the 70s; it yielded the singles Cant Get Enough (US #5) & Movin On (US #19)…
