This week in family history: 134 years ago: October 18, 1880: Carl Damrau purchases land from Adam Ebert. Both Carl and Adam are 2x great grandfather to me and my siblings, including Lynn McKeon, and to Bernice Burtard and her sibs, Carol Erickson and her brothers and sisters, James Wade Dawson, and all my Damrau-side cousins. Thomas and Rose are 2x great grandparents to me and my siblings, including Judy Ruby and to my Wons-side cousins including Kevin Daughters. They are grandmother and -father to Lawrence Skaja. And then, 2 days later ... October 16, 1886: Louis Constantine Heck, Jr. was born in Louisville Kentucky to Louis Constantine Heck and Mary Anna Schweinhart. Louis and Anna are 2x great grandparents to my children, Anastasia and William, and to Victoria and Lauren Willock. 105 years ago; October 17, 1909: Jadwiga Skaja is born to Tomasz Czester and Rozalja Schultz Skaja. She will live less than 2 months. Jadwiga is great aunt to Rosemary Wons Damrau and sibs Jim and Sue. 100 years ago: October 17, 1914: Ervin Wons is born. Ervin is 1st cousin, 1x removed of Jim Wons and nestmates Rosemary and Susan. 97 years ago: October 17, 1917: Catherine Poteracki married Casimier Wojda. Kate and Casimir were grand aunt and uncle to Rosemary, Jim and Susan. Not much on Kate, but what I have is here: mybigfamily.wikispaces/Poteracki%2C+Catherine 95 years ago: October 14, 1919: Leona Nowicki was born to Victoria Gramza and Teofil Nowicki. Leona is ALSO 1st cousin 1x removed of Jim Wons, Rosemary Damrau and Susan Daughters. 83 years ago: October 14, 1931: Walter Edwin Damrau married Effie Mitcheltree. Walter is 1st cousin to Herb Damrau, Art Damrau, Margaret Dassow, Esther Musumeci and Delores Krieski. Walters got a page: mybigfamily.wikispaces/Damrau%2C+Walter+Edwin 76 years ago: October 15, 1938: Margaret Louise Damrau marries Arthur O. Dassow. Margaret and Art were my Aunt and Uncle. They were Mom and Dad to Carol Lovette, James Wade Dawson and to Lee Dassow. Laurence Dassow is also probably pretty thrilled that these two got together. 62 years ago: October 14, 1952: Paul Jan Wons dies in Orange County, California. Paul is grandfather to Joan Paul, and great grand uncle to Matt, Mark and Mike Wons as well as to my Daughters cousins. He is 2x great uncle to Madelynn Wons. 36 years ago: October 16, 1978: John Louis Damrau died in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. John is 1st cousin to my dad, Herb Damrau, as well as to his siblings, Art, Margaret, Delores and Esther. Bess was 3rd cousin 3x removed of Anastasia and William Damrau, and Victoria and Lauren Willock. She is 3rd cousin 2x removed of Linda Willock Damrau and William C.
