This week marks our 4 year anniversary of our families move to Rwanda. So much has happened in these 4 years. This verse rings loudly in our ears today: Deuteronomy 6 starting with verse 4 “Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. There are days when loving God with everything seems attainable but most days our failure drives us to our knees and proves once more for our need for our Savior. Passing on our faith to our children and students is also an exercise in relying on Gods grace. To hear our children pray and sing songs of Jesus and his love brings a smile to our hearts. Four years isnt that long in the scope of life but during this time God has grown us and just like a sponge we are trying to soak up all that God is doing around us!
