This week, my dear Bham half runners, you should - run a little bit, some of it at the speed you want for your race. I will let you define yourselves what a little bit means - run a short distance on Thu or Fri in your exact planned race kit. Then wash it - pack your bag Saturday ready for Sunday - 1hr earlier to bed as many nights as you can - drink 3 litres water fri and sat - dont eat extra, but change the proportion of carbs to protein whilst keeping calories the same. For most this will mean dropping meat and dairy and upping the rice, grains, pasta, bread - eat your greens. Shedloads of them. Whole family packs of watercress and spinach. You need those nitrites - try some self massage, foam rolling, tennis ball, ice, whatever you reckon you need on your vulnerable or tight muscle groups. Dont choose this week to go to a professional massage for the first time, they put you through the wringer more than a workout. If you feel you must, make it no later than Wednesday - panic/dont panic - some thrive on adrenaline, some on serenity. Not for me to judge:)
