This week the British High Commission staff paid tribute to the Notting Hill Carnival. In true Caribbean style there was jerk chicken with rice and peas, accompanied by scrumptious chick pea curry. The carnival is an annual event that since 1966 has taken place in August each year, on the streets of Notting Hill in London. From modest beginnings the carnival has grown and grown; it is truly a spectacle not to be missed. With its distinctive vibrant feel and cultural unity, the carnival has attracted around one million people in past years, making it one if the largest street festivals in the world.
