This week was a very special week for our city - beginning with the City Christmas Tree lighting on Tuesday! Special thanks to Ms. Christina Flores of Something Special for doing such a fantastic job weaving every strand of Christmas lights onto our beautiful tree, KRGV Melissa Correa for MCing at the last minute, Ms. Gloria Champion and the Cleckler-Heald Elementary School Choir, Mr. Juan Aguilar and the Weslaco High School Choir, Mr. Jeffrey Figueroa and the Weslaco East High School Choir, Ms. Laura Espinoza - Marketing Director for the Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce for her assitance & moral support, Mr. Johnny Bautista of Friends Healthcare Services for providing the PA system and providing our spectators with delicious bunuelos, hot chocoloate, and pan dulce that night, Mr. David Arce - Parks & Recreation Director for the City of Weslaco and the Public Facilities crew for the City of Weslaco for helping us put the event together on such short notice. The Citys holiday events continue tomorrow with Christmas at La Plazita Park which will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. at 310 N. Kansas Ave. The event serves as a toy drive for less fortunate children in the area and will feature Santa Claus handing out presents. There will also be piñatas, games, hotdogs, cotton candy, goodie bags and music on hand.
