This weekend I am leading a retreat for 200 teenage girls. We are talking about identity, being brave and taking great leaps of faith. On Friday night I am focusing on the difference between natural born talents and spiritual gifts. Thank goodness there is a HUGE difference. I have a natural born talent of singing. But I have the spiritual gift of empathy. At the end of the day, if empathy does not manifest itself in my practice of singing I am not being all I was created to be. I will be teaching the girls that to fully be who God shaped us to be- our natural talents must find a way to honor and utilize our spiritual gifts and our spiritual gifts can and should enhance our natural talents and skills. When do you first realize the difference between talent and spiritual gifts? What do you wish someone would have told you about this while you were younger? Id love to hear your thoughts!
