This weekend I completed a 69 mile non stop ultra marathon between Carlisle and Newcastle. It took me 19h32 starting at 7am on Saturday and finishing at just gone 2.30am Sunday morning. I have to say this challenge was the hardest thing Ive physically / mentally done to date. The sense of achievement having completed it though is hard to describe. I carried a bit of an ankle injury a large proportion of the way so I now have a fairly swollen ankle. Ill be taking my own advice so compression and icing will be needed over the next few days! Thanks to those who wished me luck with this challenge. Im glad Im able to report that I completed my first (and last!) ultra marathon. Ill be back in clinic from tomorrow afternoon.
