This weekend I watched a movie Hercules that made me feel I needed to share something with you. Please stay with me, this post might be long but you will be blessed. This is a story of a man who was so strong and courageous whose deeds were so mighty and yet endured all the hardships that were given to him. Hercules father was a Greek god called Zeus who fell in love with a beautiful Greek woman called Ale-mine when her husband , Amphitryon was away. He made her pregnant. Who remembers the story of David, Uriah and Bathsheba? Hhmmmm... This made Hera, Zeus wife very angry and tried to prevent the baby from being born but the baby was born anyway. She tried to kill the baby by sending snakes into his crib but little Hercules was one strong baby and he strangled the snakes one in each hand, before they could bite him. Reminds me of the scripture.. I have given you power and authority over serpents and scorpions and no evil shall befall you. Luke 10:19 Hercules grew up to be a great warrior that killed a lion with his bare hands and ripped its mouth open. He used the lions head as part of his helmet to remind his enemies of how powerful he was. Doesnt this remind you of the story of David who killed the lion and bear while he looked after the sheep? Hercules faced personal pain when he lost his family in very tragic circumstances and being blamed for their deaths leaving him with a burden of guilt. This didnt stop his resolve to carry out his assignment, fighting for the greater cause and having many great conquests. His loyal subjects had a lot of confidence in him and reminded him on several occasions how he was an immortal man and that made him accomplish amazing tasks. As Christians, we can learn a lot from this story. God knew you before you were formed in your mothers womb. Some of you were born with difficulty, others have stories of going through attacks but you survived. The Lord anointed you and appointed you to be a prophet to the nations. Nothing can wipe you out !!! It is important to know who you are in Christ and the power and authority that you carry. No weapon fashioned against you shall prosper. Just like David encouraged himself in The Lord, so should you in times of crisis and trouble. Many are the afflictions of the righteous but The Lord will deliver us out of them all. We have the capacity and power to overcome all obstacles and come out more than conquerers. Great men face personal pain but that should never stop you from aiming higher. Run your race, execute your assignment with a spirit of excellence and come out with a crown. Love you, God bless you.
